Big White/Ocean Party

I sometimes find myself wishing I lived a touch (or a lot) further down the east coast. Not only because of the lack of surf the QLD coast seems to be copping lately, but also so I could tap into the numerous gigs that the Central Coast music scene has to offer. However, with the recent Bigsound still front of mind and the October lineup in Brissy looking that damn good, I can hardly complain.

Last Saturday saw the first of this month’s gigs by The Ocean Party. Held at the Grand Central Hotel, this was the fourth stop for them on their tour of their 6th studio album, Restless. The group are making some amazing stuff, definitely worth checking them out. However, as much as I love The Ocean Party's music, I have to admit, I was there for Big White. I recently stumbled across the band's first and only album - Teenage Dreams, released early this year - and I have been legitimately hooked ever since. I was so stoked to see their name alongside Tempura Nights for the Brisbane stop of The Ocean Party's tour. They were everything I'd hoped they'd be and that much more. Have a major listen to their album and check out a taste of the night below. Video to come.
